Why offer benefits

Good for your people, good for your business

A group plan is one of the most valued things an employer can offer. For a small business, it often costs less than people expect.

For your business

  • Hire and keep good people. Benefits are often what makes a candidate choose you over a larger company.
  • Tax-deductible. Premiums for a group plan are generally a deductible business expense.
  • Healthier, more productive teams. People get care sooner when it's covered, which means fewer sick days.
  • Room to grow. Plans can start with as few as two people and expand as you hire.

For your employees

  • Lower costs than buying alone. Group rates are usually better than individual plans.
  • Coverage for the whole family. Spouses and dependent children can be added.
  • Tax-advantaged. Health and dental benefits are generally tax-free to employees outside Quebec.
  • Easy claims. Most claims are made online or through an app, often paid directly to the provider.

General information only. Tax treatment can vary by benefit and province, so please confirm with your accountant.

Common questions

Questions employers ask us

Don't see your question? Call us at 1-226-258-9024.

How many employees do I need for a group plan?

Most Canadian insurers offer group plans to businesses with as few as two people, including the owner. Employees usually need to be permanent and working a minimum number of hours each week, often 20 to 30.

How much does a group benefits plan cost?

It depends on your team's size, ages, where you are and the coverage you choose. For small businesses, a health and dental plan often falls somewhere around $150 to $275 per employee per month. We'll give you real quotes so you can decide with actual numbers.

Does it cost anything to work with Glob Benefits?

There's no cost to request a quote or have us review your current plan. We'll explain how we're paid before you make any decision.

Do employees have to pay part of the cost?

That's your choice. Some employers pay 100%, and others share the cost, for example 50/50 or 80/20. We'll help you choose a split that works for your budget.

Can I switch insurers if I already have a plan?

Yes. Most businesses review the market at renewal. We compare your current plan with other insurers and handle the move so coverage continues without a gap.

Why did my renewal go up, and can it be lowered?

Renewals reflect your group's claims, inflation in drug and dental costs and the insurer's pricing. We look at the numbers behind the increase, negotiate with your insurer and show you other options, including plan design changes.

How long does it take to set up a plan?

Usually a few weeks from your first call to coverage starting. Insurers often apply a short waiting period for new employees, which you can choose.
